Who We Are

Incorporated in December 2010, ThermaPrime Drilling Corporation is a Philippine-based drilling company engaged in geothermal well drilling services.

ThermaPrime is composed of personnel formerly with the original PNOC-EDC drilling team — a drilling workforce of highly-skilled and well-trained engineers with combined average experience of more than 30 years. The crew has drilled most of the exploration, development, and maintenance and replacement wells in the Philippines, reaching depths of up to 3,600 meters for geothermal work, across more than 1,000 vertical and directional geothermal drilling projects.

Our History

  1. 1976

    PNOC-EDI launched to support the country's deep well geothermal drilling needs; geothermal mandate later transferred to PNOC-EDC.

  2. 1983

    PNOC-EDC merged with PNOC-EDI, creating the Energy Drilling Division with 11 deep drilling rigs.

  3. 2007

    Lopez Group-led Red Vulcan Holdings acquired 60% of PNOC-EDC.

  4. 2011

    TPWSI organized as an independent drilling contractor with experienced PNOC-EDC personnel.

  5. 2015

    TPWSI renamed ThermaPrime; expanded internationally via a Kenya capability-building contract.

  6. 2017

    Commenced consultancy services with Japanese geothermal operations.

  7. 2019

    Won a three-year PGPC contract, securing approximately 90% of the Philippines' geothermal drilling market.

  8. 2023

    Completed the PGPC contract; drilled the country's deepest large-hole well at 11,849 feet.

  9. 2024

    Added three rigs to the asset portfolio.
